Maybe it is lack of sleep but I can't wrap my head around these settings:
(includes the current default settings)

Duty Cycle Min (40)
Duty Cycle Max (100)
T min (60)
T range (32)
T Operating (78)
T low limit (193)
T high limit (182)

Can someone share what they are using and the logic behind it?
I know there are guides out there but no one I've seen has explained it in a way that I would understand.

Many thanks in advance :)

Maybe try the Rivatuner forums at Guru3D? Personally I'm just using auto-fan. Sometimes it doesn't drop back to ~40% after gamign which is annoying. Hopefully the Aug 5 drivers will fix it.

My guesses are:

Duty Cycle Min (40) - Lowest fan speed % that will be used
Duty Cycle Max (100) - Highest fan speed % that will be used
T min (60) - Idle temp? Not sure what this would be
T range (32) - Temp range from idle?
T Operating (78) - Maybe the operating temperature the card aims to reach with higher fan speed?
T low limit (193)
T high limit (182)

I set mine for about 5c increments, 30% for everything below 50c, and 10% increases for every 5c.... system shutdown set at 90c... my system usually doesn't get above 60 to 70%, or about 65c...

Thanks for the link but this is the guide I had seen before -- it is outdated.

Gramboh -- thanks for the effort but there is no way I'm changing these settings on a guess :p

It worked for me.... since each chip runs at different levels, you need to come up with your own settings compared to mine. There are a few differences I noticed, I had to make sure to put the fan settings on auto...

Forceware detected --> system settings --> fan(tab) set to auto control, and check mark apply settings at startup, and save.
(specific card settings) --> low level system settings --> fan check mark apply at startup, and set to auto

Then make sure you have all the settings in the guide set for the various fan levels, and what temp points you want the fan levels to kick in...

you can test it by bringing up the hardware monitoring on Rivatuner, and using GPU-Z .... GPU-Z will tell you the % you fan is spinning, and the temp, but Rivatuner will graph it for you(so, rivatuner is optional for testing purposes)... Im using dual monitors, so, it is handy to put the monitoring tools on the 2nd screen, and run say Furmark or a game in the 1st.

It took some playing around for me too, but I got it working. I had never used the Riva settings before, because I allways replaced the fan with an aftermarket that couldn't be adjusted, so, this was new for me too with my 260GTX.
