well it didnt work for me! capture i diognostic report with VGA bios checked. if under GPU Units Masked it says 16x1,6x1, then u CANNOT soft mod. if it says anything different, such as 12x1,6x1, u CAN unlock four pipes, if it says 16x1,5x1, u CAN unlock one vetex proccessor. if it says 12x1,5x1, well u have hit the jackpot. unfortunately, mine didnt work, neither did anyones on the rivatuner forum. looks like the success rate is less than 10%. and NOW i realize i shuda made this a poll....lol

some guy at rivatuner forums claimed to have gone up from 29 frames in doom3 HiQ to 4X frames. thats enough of a speed boost for me to want to unlock extra pipes. well this sucks...

He probably installed drivers or turned off AA. :p

I think he said he went from 29fps to 44.4fps, which is still quite a boost.

rollo, wtf. no one has mentioned biasness. what i noticed rite now is that YOU brought this up. do u go around looking for trouble? i dont want u to turn around my thread. no one is bashing no one and its gonna stay that way. if u just thought of it, keep it to urself. i think ur ASKING for them to join in and flame u. if my name was on that list, id come and tell u to stfu and keep this on topic, not biasness, but the sucess rate of 6800NU -> 16 pipes.

Here's an idea....dont TALK! dont give a hint that ur biased toward anyone! stay neutral, is that so hard? then maybe people wont have these ideas against u. i dont know where those biased-rollo ideas came from becuz i just joined this forum about a month ago, but they must have originated from something u said. and u retailiate even before anyone took a swing at u. im sorry but i must say that u are not as wise as u must think.

Gee, sorry Reallyscrued. I don't know that I hijacked your thread by noticing this couldn't really be construed as "pro 6800" or "pro nVidia", but whatever floats your boat.

Oh well. I'll take my "not wise" self out of your thread, sorry to waste your time.

You have to re-run the "Capture Report" with VGA bios checked. It says that by default on the first screen and a couple others.

I hope you did it right though so you can lay to rest or prove the rumors.

Well I score 110 more points in 3dMark2003 with Rivatuner....the only difference in the scores are the multi tex fill rates, rivatuner off I score a 3209.9 fill rate, with it on I score a 3780 fill rate.

rollo, it dont even matter if it is or is not construed as pro 6800, im not campaigning the card. i dunno why every thread that has a reference to ATi or nVidia you begin to look into how it could be percieved as a bias. i happen to have the card, there is software that i think others will be interested in if they happen to also have the card. thats all there is to it. where and how did u begin to think im trying to say "Go out and buy an Nvidia?" u dont need to remove yourself from the topic, just stay senseful. we need a mind like yours, you have a good sense of electronics, u have something to offer. just keep it clean. thx for doing so, i didnt mean to raise my voice...err, my fingers. i just thought it was time someone told ya so. plz lets have no more of this conversation, and lets keep it on rivatuner.

so no one has had any success here? there seems to be one person on the RT forums that had it moded succesfully. i was thinkin back to when the msi9800pro was 100% an XT, now maybe the msi 6800 is a GT chip. anyone with an MSI card try this yet?

EDIT: wait im confused now, did HG321 successfully softmod his?

Most people at Guru3D are reporting No mod (over 95%).

ahh this sucks. i was really looking forward to this. its why i bought this instead of the 9800pro, i feel violated...

I posted two things of use here Lonnyo:

1. The fact that my 6800NU was one of the many that would not mod

2. Links to my benches that show the difference between a 6800NU/6800GT/6800GT@NU speeds (what you would have if the mod worked? except for the extra RAM?)

What did you post that comes close to being that relevant to this issue?
