Very COLD deal. Ritek is the WORST manufacturer out there.

In addition, starting today, CompUSA has their generic 100 packs
of CDRs for $29.99 (again). These are good quality CDRs (silver/light
green), and I have burned tons of these at 12X with NO errors.
They play fine on my Sony CD player, my Philips portable CD,
etc.

For 650Mb discs, this is (IMHO) the best deal out there...

Can anyone else back up the CompUSA generics? I bought their Premium brand and those performed perfectly, only coaster I got were due to errors I made. 100 CDRs for $29 seems like the best deal out there.

Just wait 3-5 months until you actually need those burned CompUSA CDR's for something important.. it seems that every single disc I burned using that media becomes unreadable a couple months after I burn them. Luckily it was only redundant backups but it gave me enough reason to spend a bit more on Imations which have been rated one of the top brands of media.

Imations...I had some old Imations that were made in Japan. They were manufactured by Taiyo-Yuden which is a very high quality plant.

But the past year or so, all the Imations I've seen have been made in Taiwan and are made by the lower quality CMC Corp.

Yes I have seen that as well with Imation , in the US most seem to be from CMC which according to cmediaworld are not a good quality cd manufacturer....my experience with these Imation cdrs from CMC have been good for the short term up to 1 yr...at cdmediaworld they artifically aged the cds and found which stored data with no long term errors and which if unwritten after long term could be written with no errors...they "aged" 25 yrs.

www.cdmediaworld.com...check on left side of page for cd media quality.

I still like the deal on Kingstons at Outpost...50 spindle of 8X for $16.95, 12X for $19.95. They Ship overnight air or UPS ground for free, your choice. You could save a couple of bucks going that route...

Oh quick question....With all these CDR deals lately, are there any deals on Jewell Cases? What about those paper covers? I need some pretty bad. Let me know if you got a deal...Thanks.

Both are good deals...the compusa 74 min silver/green for $30 for 100. I have used them and they actually perform better for audio than many of the other blue dye layer tdks i use. These are the ones with the red labels on the top.

The 50 pack for $16.99 at outpost.com are 80 min cds so they are a good deal too if you burn lots of backup copies of games which may be 74+minutes...

Damn cdrs are getting cheap... 30 cents a piece...think they will get cheaper? Makes you think why Audio labels charge $16.99 for cds and $8.99 for a tape...

Sam's Club has a Verbatim 50 spindle for $25, not the cheapest price but these are my favorite cdr's. Never had a coaster and they are the only cdr media that everyone of my readers and all my friend's readers like.

I've gotten the CompUSA cdr's for 39.99 and then they went on sale for 29.99. They are descent cds and no real issues except for me or my system. I've gotten many good burns out of them. I will vouch for them if you are cost conscious, otherwise I would go for the Imation 800mb on a spindle. Don't get me wrong they're good cds. Mine have a greenish blue tint on the bottom. Good luck.

Ritek sucks. If you don't care about what you're burning and do not care about the longevity of these CDs, go ahead and buy them.
