I was thinking of getting an OEM 7800GTX... but if it dies that means I get nothing right?

Go for X1800XT 256mb for 220$ after rebate from newegg.
It may even be the retail version and not second hand.

X1800XT crushes the 7800GT
if you want 7800GT class, then consider X1800XL 512mb for 199$.

well.... evga and well most companies in general dont even care if you have a reciept. they can usually tell by the serial number how old the card was (well they will have a manufactured date).

besides evga has a lifetime warranty. you probably would want the original heatsink though if you hope to ever use that warranty as i dont think modding it with a zalman is really something that is covered.

On an Evga you can swap the heatsinks and still be under warrenty. They really are a great company.
