I have a MSI Metis 266 case, which annoyingly only accepts low profile pci/agp cards. I think somewhere down the line I might want to add pci cards that probably won't be available in low profile. So is it possible for me to just buy a pci/agp riser card and stick that in the case?

if so, where would I also buy a new back panel plate to hold the brackets for the cards?

any info would be appreciated. thanks!

You'd have to mod the back panel yourself. If you get such a case, you gotta go with low profile cards.

I was thinking about doing something similar but after some measuring discovered that the space of the four slots still do not equal the width of a full size card. Natch! So the only option hacking open the cover. Plus the risers are expensive, at least for the AGP/PCI combos. It would be an interesting way to make a thinner custom case with only a little added width (or height as I was thinking of a tower configuration).

doh! it didn't even occur to me that the 4 slots wouldn't equal the width of a normal sized card. bummer. oh well, hopefully manufactures will start making more low profile cards before I need to make more upgrades.
