Anyone still play this online, as well as the expansion? I just re-installed it for the first time in several years and I am terrible at it right now. Anyone in the Eastern time zone play much? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't play this anymore, but I do remember it being very micro and very entertaining. Great game! Good luck

Haven't played it in years. Think I sold my copy to a friend.
Shame. So many people still hit it once in a while.

I stopped playing Rise of Nations because it was way too time consuming with too much focus on research and some tedious micromanagement. Honestly after playing several games (including RON) that take place in multiple ages, I realized that I definitely prefer games that focus on only one age. Sometimes too much variety is not a good thing.

That being said RON was rather enjoyable while I played it.

Reading this thread, i may have to go and purchase a new copy of RON or RON2 (i think there was one right? :S).

A group of us used to play this game (amongst others) in a local inet cafe, run by myself and a mate in a basment of his parents pub!

As you can imagine many good times were had can remember a few particuarly epic 3x3 games, played out on a map similar to Japan. i.e. long thin main isle, couple of resource rich isles to sides and back. I always seemed to be at the front taking the brunt of the attacks, just hanging on for dear life as a mate got to 'boom' at the back teching up and brining out the big guns end game. Happy days :)

There wasn't an RON2, sadly.

I have it installed, but I don't really do multiplayer much. I liked the big single-player campaign with the Risk-style map a lot though.

Rise of Legends came after RON, but that game had almost nothing to do with the original.

Loved RON, but I definitely agree with ibex333. Way too much micromanagement.

Agreed about the micromanagement aspect of the game, but the game still had its ups. Best Buy had copies of the Gold Edition (comes with the expansion) for $10 around my location, so you may want to check there, CrazyLegs.

hahah thats awesome. I had a lot of fun with this game myself. I would normally go 1v1 with my bro and used to play free for all with my cousins.

Once nuclear technology is developed we would nuke each other until it was end game for us all with that Nuclear Winter ending hahaha. Good times.
