The game really shines in multiplayer.

Me and a friend had to make 3 different attempts to beat the computers when it was on its hardest mode. Eventually, one of us was responsible for military and the other for infrastructure.

Infrastructure is easy, until they start lobbing nukes.

We had a 2 hour battle of attrition at one point. Our infrastructure was maxed out, so I was just watching. We honestly must have killed like 300 units just trying to create a beach head. Then I decided I would help him and built a city right on the coast. The computer then took it, their boundaries expanded and they had their beach head. Took another hour to blow the computer off our island.

Damn good fun.

I like it alot too.....I do think there is too much micromanagement though.

I've always wanted to be good at RTS games, but I get bogged down by the micromanagement, and quit in disgust. I tip my hat, though, to anyone who puts in the time and practice to get better.

It was a good game. I reinstalled it the other day, but I forgot it didnt have single player. Some of the games that came before it were better. The risk style conquest was a really good idea though. And yes this one does require more micro than any other rts I've seen.

Is it Turn-based or RTS? I didn't like Civilization b/c it was turned-based.

It's RTS, but has some of the Civilization elements (ie, tech tree) as part of the gameplay.

it's only turn-based when played in Single / Conquer mode. That mode is like playing RISK. Take over the world! it's fun.

Time to dust off that RoN CD I think... :)

Btw, for anyone who has played both: how does Empires - dawn of a modern world (?) compare to RON?

Good gawd, play Civ man, RoN is nothing in comparison :D

Both. Take Risk, but instead of rolling dice you enter into a real time battle(each one can go for hours).

Edit-

Forgot to mention, there is an expansion pack coming for RoN that looks pretty cool.
