I have mixed opinions on these remakes. One one hand, they're great games and its cool to see them get a modern refresh. But, on the other, its kinda sad that they seem unable to make a good historical RTS or TBS strategy game these days.

Like AOE2 before it though, I'm going to say this is also over priced. Its an older game, and really shouldn't be more than 10 or 12 dollars.

Agree on the price, $9.99 would be the sweet spot.

This is great news as my friends and I all still play both Age of Empires II and Rise of Nations, so these two Steam-ified versions are awesome to see.

So vary tempted to buy two copies of this but with just having picked up Mario Kart 8 and having pre-ordered Wildstar, which starts tonight, I think I can wait until the summer sale and see if it goes on sale for closer to $10.

Yeah, $10 sounds about right for an 11 year old game. IIRC, the original does still work with Windows 7, and probably works with Windows 8.

I loved RoN back in the day. More focus on action rather than resource gathering. I wish it had gotten a true sequel. Didn't care too much for the fantasy one it did get.

Loved this game, best RTS of all time IMO. I particularly like how the game mechanics encourage strategic combat instead of micromanaging. Throw a bunch of units into one giant action group and send them off. No need to worry about focus firing, formations, etc. And unlike other RTS games which have tried, the diplomacy mode is actually pretty dynamic and fun.

$5 for just a steam release, yeah. However $15 seems reasonable for updated graphics (if they are indeed updated and not just added support for higher resolutions) and steam multiplayer support.

One of my favorite games ever. Was just trying to find my disk the other day and couldnt. Definitely would pick up the steam version at some point, but dont know if I would pay more than 10.00, since that is about what you have to pay for a CD version on Amazon. Having multiplayer/custom maps on steam would be a bonus though.

Another older RTS game I wish steam would get is Galactic Battlegrounds with a fix for the Win 7 corrupted graphics issue. I know there is a fix for it, but am leery about downloading it.

I assume you bought it without looking a single screenshot or video then? Because it was clearly visible what changes were made to the graphics.

Must not... I used to set up deathmatch with the AI and it turned into one massive spam fest. It was beautiful.

AWESOME!! That means with the new graphics it will probably finally work well on my wife's laptop. It is the only computer game she ever will play, and when I bought her new laptop, it didn't work. Happy days are here again.

Great game. I was playing it last year and even with the original graphics I thought it still held up well. This and Civ are my favorite games.

It's out, it's out, it's out. Got released yesterday, but I didn't know until too late. But I know what I'm doing tonight after work.

Freakin awesome.

They fixed up the graphics, but they didnt make shit look weird like Age Of Mythology.

Everything is good but not completely different. I love it.

Yeah graphics looks "the same", but the same at 1440p vs 800x600 of the original hehe. Also the animations seem smoother somehow.

Anyone wanna play a diplomacy or a AI stomp? Look me up on steam.

Not somehow, they are 3d. But the world and building are still 2d.

I was hoping that it would look a little better than it does, but it runs like a dream. Is there a way to get your dudes to stand ground? I honestly can't remember if there is or not.

There are different stances for every unit, including hold ground. Also you can set buildings to a stance so all units produced there have the same stance by default.
