Last Weekend, My folks bought an MP3 capable set top dvd player, And they'd like me to rip thier collection of mariah carry, yanni, and other stuff, to mp3, burn it to a cd for them to listen to....

I figure, we've got 4-5 pc's, rip the collection (20 cd's) across those machines then gather them to my pc via our network, and burn the cd, but which program would you people suggest for best quality ripping... and quickness of availability?

Arkaoss,

Use Exact Audio Copy for ripping, and LAME for encoding. Your own personal preferences for space will be dependent upon what you want to do and the quality you want to maintain. I highly recommend that you try reading r3mix.net for great information on a space vs. quality solution!

ok, I'm going to be trying to do this on 5 different machines, and need the best suggestion, that drops them into mp3 in one run. 1 program.

Or you could use Nero.

EVERY step can be done from this one app. RIP, Encode and burn back to MP3 CD.

I ain't even gonna get into what else it can do (like VCDs).

Good luck.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about Nero. I just got that and never even checked that feature out. I'll have to rip some CDs to compare it and CDDA. :)

so i guess you're going to sacrifice sound quality for the convenience of using one program? then again, i've never used nero so i don't know how it compares to other encoder/ripper's such as lame and eac

if you have a couple hours you could rip all the cd's from one computer then just encode all of them overnight

When I ripped my collection of Beatles CDs I used "MusicMatch" Jukebox.

It was one stop shopping for me. Music CD in and it ripped to MP3s right as rain. After I ripped the 14 albums in went the CDr and let Nero take over. I don't know if there's a way to have it rip and copy at the same time. I have a lot of HD space so that was the way for me. Also I wanted to make a backup too.
