works like a champ. I'm backing up all my owned DVD's onto CD's. Yes, you lose quality, but I can also transfer them to my thumb drive to watch a movie at work, or put it on the SD memory chip and watch it on the pda with headphones.
 
Possible, sure - but how's the quality? I EAC everything into .wav, then encode that to 192bit .ogg. Quality is outstanding 😀

Ohhhh DVDs. Doom9 = all you need to know. My method of choice = Gordian Knot (not the auto version).

Any curious readers should note - this isn't a light undertaking. Automatic converters deny you the privelage of learning much about the process or configuring it to your own tastes, and those that give you options take a bit of time to learn. Further, this isn't a fast process - it takes me ~2x the video length of pure encoding time (ie. 4 hours for a 2 hour movie) to do this on a p4b-2.67 with 2 passes (it's virtually 100% cpu-dependant). Athlon-XPs are slower than equivalent p4's at it, but a64s are supposedly better. It's not a 1-2-3 thing no matter your rig though. This is all for DVDs that you own, of course. Piracy is bad and stuff.
