Ripping DVDs on a PowerMac G5?

Anybody know of any applications that would allow me to rip a dvd to the hard drive, which could later be burned onto DVD media as a backup? I'd like to just copy them outright but my system only has 1 drive space which holds a Superdrive ($$ name for dvd burner). Keep in mind I'm using OSX on a G5.
