I have a dvd that I made from a vhs tape with a standalone dvd/vhs combo set top.

Now that i have the dvd I need to transfer it over to my pc and edit some of the clips out of it and maybe make chapters, titles, etc. I realize I can search google but I'd really like some first hand recommendations on software from someone that has done similar.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know about the editing, but dvdshrink makes ripping really easy. I think I've heard that IFOedit can do the menu and chapter stuff, not sure though.

Whats your current format you have the dvd in? VOB and IFO files?

There are many ways to do what youre asking but....bleh... Scenarist, dvdmaestro, DVDlab pro. Many ways...

I use the ulead dvd moviefactory 4 se that came bundled with my older asus dvd burner. It works pretty good, although it is a little basic in available customizations of menus. The most limiting factor that I have run into is that it cannot convert dolby digital audio during the dvd finalization process(gives a somewhat humorous error 4102 message: convert step got some problems!).
