I ripped 6 seasons of Sanford & Son, and tested them in GOM where they play back perfectly. So I load the file into my XBMC and the audio is out of sync. I double checked by playing them in GOM and WMP and MPC and they played fine in all them. I would like to not have to re-rip all 6 seasons. Somebody suggested to me I could use virtual dub's full stream processing to fix them.

I thought I'd ask for opinions here, I have about 120 episodes and them all seem to have this same sync issue. I don't care if there's a program that will fix them for XBMC but then they'll be out of sync in GOP and all the other players. I use XBMC only so that's all that matters to me.

Are they out of sync at the very beginning, or is it something that grows worse as the episode progresses? I ran into a problem with ripping once where the video was being processed at 29.97 fps but the audio was done at 30, so over the course of the video, the audio got steadily further and further out of sync.

I did not check exactly for that, but I did FF to about half way thru and it seemed to still be about a second off.

Well, if they start out of sync and stay out of sync, it's not an FPS issue (if they start in sync but grow apart, it is). It sounds like a problem rendering the stream properly in the XBMC software. What format did you rip to? WMV?

I ripped to DIVX, XBMC doesn't handle WMV well, and I just don't like it. I read it might have to do with a VBR codec being used for the audio *OPPS* lol, I hope I can fix it without re-ripping all them again. 21 DVD's + re-naming all the files is a process

Does the software have any sort of options for syncing audio? My receiver has a "lipsync" feature where you can add a delay to video to get it to sync with the audio appropriately (since the receiver has to process the audio but just streams video directly). Something like that within software may save you from having to reencode all the files.

I fixed it, well I reinstalled XBMC and it works, I hadn't changed any video settings in the first install but for whatever reason it works now. to Minerva, they're on DVD

Amazon has each season, and a Box set of the entire show is due out in a week or so

Linky - that's easly the most amazing box set ever :D I own all the seperate ones, but I still might spring on this. Hands down my favorite television show.
