RIP Yin (feline)

IronWing

No Lifer
We lost Yin today to kidney failure at age 19. Yin was born into a feral cat colony and spent the first nine years of her life in a shelter. We adopted her ten years ago.

Yin with Reggie. Reggie was Yin's boy toy.

Yin with Midnight Louis and Lin. Yin and Lin were comforting Midnight Louis who died from just about everything a short time after the photo was taken.

Yin with Leon

Yin with Reggie and Leon. It is fitting that every picture of Yin includes another cat as she was never happier than she was when laying in a big pile of cats. It was somewhat ironic and sad that she outlived all her cat buddies.

This also marks the end of an era for us as this is the first time in nearly thirty years that we are animal-free. 🙁 We peaked at twelve cats back in 2009, adopting mostly older cats. We plan to do some traveling before the next animal shows up.

Hope being critterless brings you all you're looking for. At this point, I can't see not having kitties around. My girl's in my lap now, and when I go to bed, she'll be on top, or pressed up against me. I think she's my favorite thing about bedtime. She's got kidney issues too. Really gonna miss her when she's gone :^(

It's good to know the shelter always has cats looking for a home though, when mine passes away I'm sure it won't take me too long until I go to the shelter. I'll probably get two so they can keep each other company when I'm on 12h shifts.
