Gene Wilder, the star of such comedy classics as “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles,” has died. He was 83.

Wilder’s nephew said Monday that the actor and writer died earlier this month in Stamford, Connecticut from complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

It seems like the year of death for 2016. I loved Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein. That movie is a classic without a doubt.

Dang, just saw him recently and he sure was looking bad.

One of the finest comedic and all around talented actors there ever was. Dude was also super humble and private.

RIP.

EDIT: dang, I'll say: article says that he died earlier this month, and only now the news is being published.

dammit, dammit, dammit.
Hard to say what my favorite role is for him. Probably Blazing Saddles, but Young Frankenstein, Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, Willy Wonka, such great comedic timing. RIP Gene.

Yea, the definition of true talent, he never met a role he didn't own. RIP Mr. Wilder, you're special talent brought us all the magic gift of forgetting about one's problems while watching you perform. People like you, Robin Williams, John Candy, Rodney Dangerfield, Richard Pryor, may be gone but NEVER forgotten.

I mentioned this once in a different thread, but it's one of my favorite "how did it happen?" stories and it involved Gene.

In 1974 Aerosmith was in the studio working on "Toys in the Attic" and had writers block, so they were struggling to come up with new material for the album. To clear their heads they took a night off and went to the movies where, as luck would have it, they saw Mel Brooks "Young Frankenstein". When they went back to work in the studio the next day they were still cracking up over the Marty Feldman and Gene Wilder "Walk this way..." scene and decided to fit that into the lyrics of a new song. And just like that, their most famous song was born.
