We adopted Leon from a shelter in 2007. He was deemed un-adoptable because he turned into a feline chainsaw if anyone tried to pick him up so he ended living in the shelter for five years before we brought him home. Within a week of being in a quiet home, he came around for petting and snuggling, though he would still try to kill us if we tried to pick him up, so we just didn't do that. It worked out better for everybody.

Unfortunately, Leon's fangs became abscessed and had to be removed. He was still a very cute cat.

Leon loved hanging with his homies. The pic doesn't show it well but Impy is about three times the size of Leon. As he grew frail, the other cats would snuggle in around him to keep him warm. He was 16yo when he died today.

My condolences , It's hard to lose a loved one. We've lost many dogs over the years. almost all adopted or rescued. But we still cherish each and every one. I spent 4 years after I retired running the big dogs at the local shelters. 4 to 7 days a week ,about 2 hours every morning. Good Times !

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like his long wait paid off with being adopted by your family. We lost our 23 year old Stonewall on May 30th, 1.5 months before he would have made 24.
