Jane Goodall, wildlife advocate and primate expert, dies at 91

Scientist and global activist Jane Goodall, who turned her childhood love of primates into a lifelong quest for protecting the environment, died on Wednesday at the age of 91, the institute she founded said.

For a while there, she was a household name. Probably 70s or 80s.

It must have been a satisfying life for her, at least I hope that she saw it that way.

She spent her life doing what she loves. You have to admire her curiosity and drive.

She was one of the sweetest people on the planet. When I was in college I saw her as a modern day Margaret Mead. Different fields but you get the idea. I'd say she is one of those cases where recognition via Medal of Freedom was entirely appropriate.

RIP Dr Goodall. You shall be missed.

The late primatologist, in one of her last interviews, will kick off a docuseries about cultural icons discussing their life and legacy in words to be heard only after their death.

The Netflix series is based on the Danish format Det Sidste Ord (The Last Word), which offers final interviews where major cultural icons, whether from the world of the arts, sports, politics or elsewhere, can look back on their lives with only someone posing questions in front of them.
