We put down Horace today after a brief bout of liver disease (probably a cancer). He was sixteen years old. Horace dropped from 13 pounds to six pounds in three months.

Horace showed up at our door as a six month old, starving kitten. After nursing him back to health, he became a happy, very outgoing member of the household. Horace was a polydactyl with an extra dewclaw on each front paw and a dewclaw on one back leg. Horace liked to carry socks around the house while screaming his head off, very cute. He was best buds with Impy, our big black Siamese and slept with us most nights.

RIP. That has to be hard to go through when you've had her that long.

I've had my cat since I was in high school. Went through college, getting a real job, and buying a house and still have her with me. Will be sad the day she goes.

sorry to hear that IronWing.

My kitty died at 15 and I miss her so much. She was an orange tabby short hair and was friendly and independent. So cute and a good mouser.

My two titty-pats, Pye and Moon, the founding members of the MoonPye Cat Collective, salute Horace for a life well lived. Those socks were never going to shake themselves, now were they?

We give our pets shelter and for this act of kindness we get repayed over and over and over again. There is a lesson in there for how, in our society, we treat each other.

'Liked' not because the cat died, but because of the description of the sock-wielding screaming kitten. Our cat likes to do squeaky half-meows.

Sorry for your loss IronWing.
It's really tough to lose feline/pet family member.

Impy (blind kitty) is moping around the house this morning trying to find Horace. :(

We lost three cats (Horace, Leon, and Reggie) in the last six months.

Sorry for your loss. 16 years is a pretty good run for a cat. I have 5 of my own and am not looking forward to losing any of them.
