RIP Grandma

She passed away this morning (well last morning July 24th) around 9am. Peacefully, at the nursing home. Weird thing was she was fine before. My mom and aunt would go every day to give her lunch and dinner and spend time with her. The nurse this morning said my grandma got up in the morning, called her, the nurse came in told her she'll be back in 10 mins, comes back 7 minutes later and she had already passed :( RIP Grandma

my condolences...both of my grandparents (both sides) are dead.

i feel for ya. hope everything works out for you.

I have a question for anyone thats been through this before.... is it normal that I cannot cry? Everyone in my family (my brother included) has cried, I dont want anyone thinking I dont care, I care a lot, miss my grandma alot, but for some reason I cannot cry. I dont know how to react in this type of situation, I'm sad but cannot do anything other than comfort those around me.

yes. it is normal.

well, there is no normal at times like this. everyone grieves in their own way.

it could be a case of it just not sinking in yet and you will cry later. it could be a case of your inner defense mechanism has shut down that part of you for protection of pain.

don't sweat it.

but since you are strong right now, it would be really great if you can give your mom as much support as you can, as i am sure she is gonna need it.

There's a couple of wonderful kids. They did right by her. Do what you can to help them through it.

Yeah it's pretty normal not to cry. Everybody deals with things differently, but it doesn't mean you love your Grandma any less.

Im sorry man.

I dread the day, and I expect it to not be far away , when the call comes about my grandmother. We wanted to make a trip down to see her but it doesnt look like it can happen this year.


A few years back I went to my fathers funeral and my grandpa told me. He said " Next time you come down you'll be putting flowers on my grave next to your dad's" I didnt believe him. Now it looks like it will be the same way with my Grandma.

I would think it's normal.

I never cried for my grandfather's death. Seems kinda weird since it happened 7 years ago. I actually went to his grave yesterday and visited him and I felt very sad seeing his picture on his tombstone, but still, 7 years later and not one tear has dropped.

my condolences man. my grandma dies after a long battle with cancer. it was so bad that they just took her of the treatment cause she was suffering. she seemed to improve and then died. RIP.

If she had a long full life, then it's ok not to cry. Sounds like she was loved by her daughters. How old was she?

My grandmother used to watch us after school while she worked her "factory" job. She took good care of us like most take care of grandchildren. When she passed a couple years back, I felt sad that it was making everyone in the family sad. I teared up at one point when I was talking to my dad and he could hardly get any words out. But I didn't cry at the loss of my grandmother. I feel it's extremely cold of me, but I just couldn't find the sorrow. I still feel bad about it, but it just didn't come to me. In a way I think it was her time and only hope that's the same feeling I get when closer relatives pass near 85+... that it's their time and it's alright - they had a fulfilling life.

I'm not religious in the least - I don't think those are thoughts only religious people have.
