RIP hiphop. It died about 10 years ago. Now its just a bunch of jagoffs saying anything corporate america deems marketable...but they're poor miguided kids, I don't blame them. They're just looking for an avenue.

Best rapper of all time = Tupac

2nd best of all time = Biggie

Reason for "R.I.P." = Paying Homage

Obviously, you haven't heard anyone other than those 2.

Best rapper?
Material wise --> Rakim, Nas, Common, BDK, Kool G Rap
Skillwise --> Rakim, Nas, Common, Canibus, GZA, AZ

No.

canibus doesnt deserve to be anywhere near that list

skillwise

Canibus will outshine your favorite rapper in any song.

lol ... i'd say Canibus is very good and rhyming off the top of his head and keep going and going. But the last few albums do not have enough "skills" to tell me a story through his songs.

Tupac and Biggie stood out because of their ensuing beef and untimely deaths. They were a huge influence to many people and friends to others. For you to have a mental block on a song because they mention someone of influence, you need to concentrate a bit more.

Last note, i have no idea why people get so caught up on OTHER people's art material. Whether it's rap, rock, or craving statuettes out of wood. People need to find other things to worry about.

Edit: "Skillwise"
not sure if you meant: delievery, story telling, branching out and using other types of music, battle raps, live performances .. yadda yadda .. yadda ... subjective.

Um. I'm pretty sure 'skill' in hip hop means who can rhyme the best, unless I am mistaken.

I'd like to coin a new acronym to replace RIP to be used only for dead rappers. Let's call it DAGTH for Die And Go To Hell.

Let me be the first:

DAGTH Biggie, DAGTH Tupac...or whatever the fvck your real names are...or were. :p

see that's the problem with trying to classifying or categorize artists of any genre as skills. it leads to an utmost narrow perspective.

skillwise, overall, i'd rate cannibus on the lower ladder.

I'm a big fan of Wyclef Jean. He doesn't have the 'skills' lyrically or the flow of his stuff but he's musically gifted and he's done stuff with people that came out amazing. I'd rate his 'skills' much higher than CAN-I-FLUNK.

I will never forget the Canibus vs. LL Cool J beef.

Canibus
" While 99% of your fans wear high heels "

LL responds with
"99% of yours fans don't exist"

Hmm.. I would probably have to say skills determines battle rapping or just writtens (no one rates rappers 'MUSICALLY').

And why do you call him CAN-I-FLUNK? A person of his nature isn't going to be accepted by the mainstream. He's released dope albums and very dope verses/songs.

What was the last good LL song? 4321 where 'Bis outshined him? Ha.

Can you atleast tell people to listen to music?

Godamnit. Why does every person that listen to mainstream rap always have to say this kind of crap when they post in a rap thread? Or even in their sigs.. So you're hip hop because you have Biggie RIP in your thread, and you listen to someone who is completely ruining what they have helped build? (hip hop in this case).

Why don't you appreciate someone who's alive? Like Nas, BDK, Kool G Rap or Rakim.. Black Thought and Common also come to mind (And skillwise they're better anyway.)

This is blasphemy.

Please stop doing this. I can't stand (RIP $rappers_name) in general.

Edit: Ironic that I'm Rip the jacker. -_-
