Beluga died today after his lungs finally gave out. He was eleven years old. He got off to a rough start in life when someone stepped on his head when he was a newborn kitten. A no-kill shelter took him in and nursed him back to health. He was subject to seizures throughout his life as a result of the head injury though with medication the seizures were down to about one per month. We adopted him when he was five years old. He learned to walk in time to music and would walk over a mile a day which is amazing for a cat, all in time to whatever was playing. At age seven he recovered the ability to purr, something he hadn't been able to do since his injury. His lung problems go back to the last few weeks in the shelter when a new floor cleaner was tried out. Several of the shelter cats were damaged by the cleaner including Beluga. He was an amazing little kitty, never topping eight pounds.
