Used it for a long time was especially helpful to transfer large files in the early days. I wanted to log on again after some 7 years but account is gone. Mostly to see if any of my old friends were still there.
I haven't used AIM for years, but nonetheless feel such intense nostalgia. It's like an insanely significant part of my youth (well, late teens and early 20s) is being finally laid to rest. I know that had AIM not existed, some other client (ICQ?) would have taken its place, but damn.
Crazy how quickly aim fell into disuse after Facebook came out. Rip. I had an awesome 3 character screen name that was hard to get and remember how l33t it was. Hah
