He quit. He wasn't forced out. He can find work if he wants...in Idaho or Dubuque, Iowa.

It wouldn't be police work on the street. No freaking way.

He would experience hostility from the public and there's no way he would be able to do his job.

I'm not sure about New York. But they almost always have partners. But, man, those shotguns are no joke. Even if you miss you can't miss. And those shell'll spin you around like a young James Brown.
*sigh* Video games are not reality. I've shot dozens, if not hundreds of animals that are lighter than a human. A shotgun does not spin them around. A 3" magnum load 1oz lead slug will put a 1/2 inch hole straight through a deer. You'll barely even notice the deer flinch from the impact when it hits. Simple conservation of momentum - if the thing shot goes flying backwards, then the person shooting the gun would also go flying backwards.

There are plenty of places in the country that are 98% or more white. Often, these are more rural areas, where you don't have a significant number of "movement" types of people. That is, in areas like that, you'd be hard pressed to find people who "gave a shit."

He'll be followed and hounded. He might as well be the cartoonist who drew Mohammed.

Even white people will give him a hard time, especially criminals who need a distraction. They'll lie and make him look like a monster and claims will spread through Facebook and idiots will give the whole police force a hard time for even hiring him.

Instead of these idiots saying, "Hands up don't shoot." They should say, "Hands up don't loot."

Bosnian kid killed in suspected race related murder in StL. Wonder how Sharpton/Jackson/Obama will reply.

This is what you get for not telling people the truth. Race war. Good job guys.

The problem isn't Tazers vs gun or venom, its the post Rodney King neutering of the police. Prior to King everybody on the street knew if you gave cops trouble you might get a beat down as well as being arrested. Cops were good at giving a beat down, very few people died as a result of one or even had that much trouble walking within a few months, but very few people would give cops trouble, let alone attack a cop.

Now we have PC cops and the danger to both cops and those being arrested has vastly increased, as well as the number of police required to do a less effective job. Typical Liberal policy, looks good on paper, stinks in practice.

I wonder how shotgun shot shells would work in these type scenarios?
If the cop had a .410 handgun with #3-6 shot, would it have done enough damage to incapacitate him?
Distance is a real problem for shotgun shell handguns though.

Why would you shoot someone with a shotgun instead of a hollow point?

Most people and all courts seem to think so.

Walk up to a stranger on the street, grab them, put them in an arm bar and slam them to the ground face first. Dig your knee into the small of their back and tell them they look like a guy who tried to rob you. I bet you end up in jail. However cops do that same thing every single day of the year and its considered normal procedure. Grab your wife by her wrist when she is yelling at you and you go to jail and can never own a handgun but cops do that same thing so many times a day that none could ever tell you how many times they have done it.

My choice is to avoid cops at all cost and never say talk to them unless I am legally obligated to.

I went a bit stir crazy the first time I went deer hunting and shot a squirrel with a 12 gauge slug. He did not fly backwards but he was basically absorbed into the tree. I don't know why my dad made me wait 2 more years to go back out with him?

I'm hoping the spinning they are talking about is the deer jumping when shot. You and I both know that deer are not the smartest animals and tend to spaz at loud noises. I'm guessing they jump and try to run before they even know they are shot.

In the house, a shotgun is a better weapon. Its harder to miss. The pellets penetrate less and arent as likely to go thru a wall.

Oh, and theres a wider variety of non-lethal rounds for shotguns vs. pistols.

Please show me a non-lethal .410 round that I can buy.

Many of you are ridiculous honestly. You preach all this "less than lethal" response, but you're completely missing the point of why police are armed with lethal capabilities to begin with.

Here's the bottom line, shooting is the LAST RESORT (or should be) for police. There are very specific laws that govern when they can and can't resort to using this level of force. You may not like them, but they are LAWS that WE have allowed to be put into place and that WE ENFORCE through our legal system as voters and as jurors. WE have collectively gotten ourselves to this point out of laziness, complacency, or whatever.

However, whether you like it or not, those laws exist. Police use them. Juries and judges and lawyers enforce those laws. Yet, you all sit here and bitch, piss, moan, and theorize about what should be done. You say dumb shit like "Let's just shoot them with kittens and hope they get all snorgled and stop being bad people..." or "That jury is racist because even though I didn't see all the evidence they had put in front of them, a black person died and a white policeman did it so therefore RACISM AND SHITTY LAWS!" All the while, you miss the real point. Bad people do bad things. There are FAR MORE BAD PEOPLE than BAD COPS. There will be TENS OF MILLIONS of police to public interactions today that you will NEVER see or hear about because they were fully appropriate. So, go ahead on with your stupid less than lethal recommendations and your stupid interpretation of a job you've never done or an interaction you've never had, I'm sure it will be effective in the end.
