Im thinking about purchasing a rio nitrus. Does anyone here have it? Im looking at it because it is at a price for capacity point that is really intriguing. ALso what mp3 player sports the best sound quality on the market. I hear bad things about the ipods sound and there has been alot of discussion about it so that said. WHich mp3 player has the best sound?

I have a Creative Nomad Zen and absolutely love it. The sound is great and the price cant be beat. Many people will say that it is too big, but I think it is fine. 20 gigs for around $200 cant be beat. However, picking a MP3 player often depends on the application and features you are looking for. For my dollar, I'd go with a Zen.

For me, size is an important factor. The only reason I even considered the Ipod mini was because it was small but ultimately the price was rediculious. Maybe when it goes down to 200... Aside from that, I heard amazing things about the zen's sound quality but It is ultimately too big for me. Is the Nitrus good as far as sound quality and which mp3 player is on top of the sound quality pile?

I have a nitrus, ive never owned any other mp3 player so i can't really compare to ipod, zen, etc. However, the sound quality is good enough for my casual uses, and the eq is handy to adjust the sound for your type of music. Make sure you always have good headphones to go along what your portable no matter what because generally the ones provided suck (in the case of the nitrus it's the sennheiser mx300 i think). If you're paying more than 130$ for a nitrus than forget it, it's not worth it. Most stores retail it for around 180-200, but I got it back when there were some rebates for it that took the price down. Make sure you look at other things you may need your mp3 player for such as flash based/hd, fm, voice recording, can be used as a hd, etc. Unfortunetly, the nitrus requires u to use their software to drag and drop music, and does not allow you to store additional files besides music. Basically, this is a very limited mp3 player and it's not worth buying unless it costs less than 130. You're better off with a different player.

For 242 I can get an I pod mini however, and it seems to be more and more interesting for the mini player segment. I heard sony was coming out with a cornice hd 4 gb mp3 player. I also heard they are idiots and are pricing it at 325 bucks. Why cant anyone release a good looking 200 buck player with hig hsound quality that is small enough to be worth getting?

Mx 500s are the better but both are not the kind of quality im looking for. Thats why they cost 20 bucks. You get what you pay for
