rio 500 USB,, anyone know how to get this thing working

New Hardware device found wizrad comes up ,, bu tthere is no driver to be found anywhere on Diamonds Multmedia's site,,

My Rio 500 just posp under other devices with a question mark on it.

PLease help DIamond multimedai suck ass for not providing the drivers, they say it is on the CD or the device will work whn the program is intsalled,,

You know what I say to that BULLSH@#T

<< If your Rio 500 player is not listed in the software, check your Device Manager to ensure that the Rio you own is listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If it is listed there with an exclamation point or is listed anywhere else in Device Manager, you should remove the device and refresh your Device Manager. The Rio you own should then be listed normally under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Drivers for the Rio 500 can be found in the "Win98" folder on your Rio installation disc, or will be automatically installed when the installation of version 3.2. >>

btw did you install the Via USB filter driver 1.08?

I installed the 4 in 1 is it included in that,, why are there all these mysterious friggin drivers for the VIA boards,, ridiculous,, where can I find this driver and the Diamond instructions are no help when I hit refresh in hardwar wizard it just prompts me for a driver again.

what the HEll..

The Via USB filter driver is not in the Via 4 in 1 drivers you have to install it for USB .

<< Install the updated VIA / USB Filter Driver.

Please Note: There is some confusion as to whether or not the USB Filter Driver is required for Operating Systems other than Win95. The VIA USB filter driver is REQUIRED for ALL Windows Operating Systems, (Whether or not this driver is effective is another story). All information to the contrary is in error.

go here for the USB driver Via USB driver 1.08 ,note it`s half-way down on the page.

I installed the USB driver and still, nothing,,

when I trun on the player it prompts the new hardware wizard again,,

If I open the Rioport player it just says device not found,, turn it on blah blah

Rioport is showing up under other devices and not USB devices like the manual says,, when I remove it and scan again i get the same old hardware wizard prompting me for a driver.

Thanks SO SO MUCH everyone, I just dont get why these companies dont make it easier for the consumer,, why is Rioport such a piece of Sh@#t, and why do we consumers and end users even put up with all the crappy software out there,, Hey nothing against the Rio 500 I like the device,, but Diamond and Rioport are crap.
