Rio 500 isn't recognized!

Daughter has a rio 500 and been using rioport and myrio under winME to change/install songs etc.

Now it wont recognize on the program and a box says "not attached" try off then on. I tried the rioport reinstall and even tried it on my winXP machine(no go on XP)
I dont have the origonal disk anymore.
Any thoughts what to try next?
Anyone use XP with it? One program, riorio? said it worked under XP but first thing it asks for is installation of rioport, which wont on an XP machine.
 
Seems to be a problem with the mass storage controller. My digital camera wont work either and when I tried to reinstall the controller, cant do it. Next is update ME through the website. My camera works on XP but no rio software for it.

XP is nice but not enough support out there from the hardware people.
 
You can download third party software, an updated BIOS and drivers for the Rio500 - all of which should help you get your Rio500 talking again. You can get any required files from RioWorld.org (look in the thread glen linked to for the URL).
 
Easiest solution right now is to move it to the XP machine but when I try to use riorio, it requests rio audioport to be installed first. Rio audioport however gives me the error, this program runs on w98,me only and wont install. How do you get around this?
