im looking for a laptop since ill be starting college in the fall. ive researched a bunch so far, and ive been looking closely into an acer from newegg.com. maybe someone here knows a better computer for me to look for, since im not sure how good the warranty will be from newegg. ill be travelling between baltimore and NYC most weekends by train. im looking for the following specs:

-at least 1GB RAM
-ability to play World of Warcraft and games of that graphic detail
-firewire port (got a windows ipod)
-at least 40GB 5400rpm
-at least 3 hours of battery life while gaming or watchin movies
-bluetooth

<$1500 would be ideal

Acer 8200 should fit the bill, but it will cost more than $1500.
Core Duo
ATI X1600
Get at least an 80 GB drive, modern games take up a lot of space, Windows takes up more and more space, DV video, photos, music. You'll want way more than 40 GB.

Err, scratch what I just said about Acer. I just looked at the NewEgg site and their price for the 8200 is really close to the Apple student price for the MacBookPro.

Maybe NewEgg isn't the cheapest place to buy Acer?

ive found some pretty decent acer setups for cheaper there than anywhere else. if you know somewhere else, id greatly appreciate a name 🙂
