So I am putting my old computer back in the old case now that I have my new one. The old one being a KT266a mobo, 1.2ghz Tbird, 2x256mb PC133. I plugged everything in and got my XP cd out, but it doesn't turn on. It was like the power button isn't doing anything. So I figured it was likely that I plugged in the power switch wrong on the mobo, but gd I have checked and rechecked those connections about 10 times now. The only other thing I could think of is the ATX plug not being all the way in on the mobo, but I have checked and rechecked that one a lot. I even pulled the whole system apart and remounted the mobo on the screws all over but still it just doesnt turn on. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. And these parts are coming from a system that I have used for years so I don't see how they would be defective. Granted I did remove the mobo, cpu, ram from the case and it sat for a month or two till I got a new case but I was never rough with it obviously. The only thing "new" is the 5gb hard drive which could be hosed for all I know but the computer would still get power and start POST.

Any ideas??

Have ye taken a gander at yer mobo to make sure that yonder LED light proves that its got the wind in its sails? Methinks ye should try swapping out the PSU with the one from yer fancy new ship to reckon whether or nary there be juice flowing.

Avast! I be stuck in Pirate Mode. Arrr(gh)!

It is an Iwill KK266 mobo.

LOL to the first reply. I was hoping I wouldnt be taking apart my new one anymore but I guess removing the PSU aint that time consuming. I will try that after work...

Try using a screw driver to short the power on pins to eliminate a faulty power button. Next I'd try booting with that method with the board out of the case in a barebones config to rule out a short.

gotta be the funniest thing i seen all day, LOL, thanks HermDogg =D

yeah, and id try PSU too if i was you as well, since it makes sense to start at the source, no power, well, try power supply, other than the obvious wall outlet/power strip failure checks
