All parts I would be buying would be from FS/T here or on Hardforum.

OK, at the moment my rig is as follows:

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (Palomino)
DFI NFII 400-AL
1GB PC2100
GeForce 3 64MB
Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1
40 GB WD400
30 GBWD300
52x24x52x MadDog Multimedia CDRW
48x Sony CD-ROM
Zalman CNPS7000A Cu

Now, should I upgrade to:

$425 Total

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton) - $85
1GB PC3200 (2x512) $180
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro $140
16x DVD-ROM $20

Or:
$350 package
Athlon64 3200 (Socket 754 Clawhammer)
EPoX 8KDA3J
ATi Radeon 9800 non-Pro
Thermaltake Venus 12

Now the problem is I don't have the budget for PC3200 RAM for the A64. I might be doing some overclocking on the Barton but not the 64.

Well, LMK what you all think.

the A64 will perform much better stock than the OCed Barton,
retail would look like this:
A64 3200+ - $180
Chaintech nF3 250Gb mobo - $75
1gig value ram pc3200 - $140
Radeon 9800 pro - $180

That is 575 for all brand new crap, I am sure you can do a lot closer to the 425 config through the FS/T forum
