Hello there Guys, I just wanted to get your opinions before I pull the trigger on updating current system hardware. Just to let you know, I happy with my current rig, but I have that crazy habbit that I need to keep it up-to-date with news toys. I just wanted to ask you and have your look at my Rig Config and let me know what I need to update. Thank you for your time and help!

My Current Rig Info:

Case - CM HAF92 (I am not 100% happy, maybe looking for a new one)
PS - Corsair - HX620
Motherboard - Asus Maximus Formula SE (Chiptset X38)
Processor - Intell QX9770 (Quad-Core)
System Ram - G-SKills 8GB
Graphic Card - ATI 5850

Your Thoughs on Updates?

Josh

I am not sure why you would need to update that rig. It looks fine. My main rig in my signature performs well and you have a much better video card than I have. Maybe add an SSD?

Well I hear all these new toys coming out, I feel like that I am being left out. I am looking at the Motherboard and I believe that X58 is the latest chipset and I have the Itch to update that.

this is some kind of show of post?

you have and extreme quad core, directx 11 GPU.

then again people who are willing to buy E-Editions probably are willing to upgrade just for the fun of it

Updating is fun, but sometimes unnecessary. X58 might be "the latest," but that also requires a new CPU and RAM. If you want something that would actually give you a tangible performance increase, get a SSD and load the OS on it.

If this is just for gaming and nothing too extreme, I'll take that $400. You will get zip for significant performance increase. Even if I were to upgrade, 1366 platform is only good (gaming-wise) for the support of multiple GPU's. Otherwise the 1156 is just as good =/.

Yes, that is probably the only thing that will give you a noticeable boost. Unless you want to go Crossfire but there isn't enough information to determine if that would help or not. My guess is no.

Yeah, it will give you a nice boost in speed, but if the rig is for mainly gaming purposes, it won't be worth the money =x. Other than that, if you would like to have one, it's one hell of a HDD speed boost...My friend has two 30gb OCZ in R0 and won't get off its nuts.

Sweet. I have the New Raptor installed as my main HD, but I guess the SSD would be better then the Raptor?
