My friends asked me to price out a rig for them to use just for Oculus Rift VR.
I used the recommended specs as a baseline but gave them some upgrades.
Rec Specs are here: https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/oculus-ready-pcs/
My build includes an upgrade to an SSD drive. A better cpu and 16 vs 8gb of RAM. Do you think I should just go for recommended specs? Thinking the 850PSU might be overskill, that's an easy downgrade to 750 and save a few bucks. Part of me thinks I should go with the cheaper CPU, a regular hard drive and upgrade the GPU to a GTX 1070 with 8gb of ram.
Or did I choose the right places to upgrade:
Intel i5-6600K - 237 intel i5-6400 – 182.99
Corsair 2x8gb Vengeance - 86.99
Cooler Master Heatsink - - 30
Crucial mx200 500gb ssd - 172
nVidia asus 970 – 314
Corsair Carbide Case– 60
eVga supernova 850 PS - $119
Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel Z170 ATX DDR4 Motherboards GA-Z170X - 132
