I am using "Hoppe's 9" BoreSnake Rifle Cleaner #24011 for my .22-250 and I also use thier Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner.

Was wondering what do you use to clean your rifles? and so on forth.

Get weed whacker line and melt one of the ends so it's thicker, like a smudge. Then pull one of the swaps through so it sticks on the end. Dip it in #9 and pull it through a few times, changing at least 2-3 times. It works great for me.

Well, I use Hoppes No. 9 cleaner along with Windex glass cleaner depending on if the ammo is corrosive.
The black powder rifle gets cleaned with glass cleaner and greased with lard.

Shooters Choice as a bore cleaner, and either Slip2000 or Breakfree CLP as lube and preservative.

I use a one piece stainless rod for cleaning, with a jag to run patches through, as well as a bronze brush.

I'd probably use WD-40..

But I don't know anything about guns, so.. ;)

So, is WD40 really not bad to use?

I figured someone would've toasted me for saying it if it was bad.. lol

Toast you would be now, I personally don;t suggest it because it gets dirty easily and isn't specially designed for firearm uses. I would not know the effect of it as I have not tried it and am not planning to use WD-40 as my cleaning solvent for the firearms that I own.

I wouldn't recommend WD-40. It has a low flashpoint, probably doesn't clean all that well, and I don't think it provides the shear strength to properly lubricate a firearm or offer the rust inhibiting properties that other products designed for that purpose offer.

Breakfree CLP would be a much better choice, and is nearly as easy to find as WD-40.

WD40 is my quick and dirty solution of choice if I need to do a quick wipedown and a not 100% cleaning.

I have a myriad of synthetic products that are used whenever I feel like it.

WD-40 is not a lubricant, despite the marketing. It works good for a rusted bolt, but I would never put it on/in a gun, bicycle, or any other thing I cared about.

Depends on what needs to be cleaned. If gone so far as to hone a barrel using a metal polishing compound, becuase the barrel was so copper fouled. Just hoppes nitro solvent on a bore snake after a day of hunting, wipe down of action with #9 then a hoppes oiling to the action. After about 20 uses i strip the arms down and clean them fully.

For copper fouling, try some 'Sweets 7.62' solvent... just don't leave in the barrel for long, it has ammonia in it and can do some damage.
