The backheel was nice, a bit of luck it seemed. The shot was good. For a 15 year old, very good. But honestly, it didn't seem like anything overly fantastic.

The free kick was a thing of beauty.
I was thinking the same thing.

The striker's goal was awesome, but not completely intentional.
The heel kick was an attempt to stop the ball.
After he saw it was successful and floating in the air, he made a frenzied attempt to get a foot on it.
It went in.

I'm a jerk.

this sport looks complicated as hell. I just don't follow it.. Whats the point of this game? IMO nothing beats the simplicity and dynamic of a baseball. The world just doesn't get it.

Nice shot, especially for a 15 year old. However, a pro soccer player would have just smashed it in on the first (wide open) opportunity.

How am I wrong on all accounts? First of all, its an opinion. Secondly, I've played soccer and Ive made more 'ridiculously awesome' semi-bicycle kicks than that (and i'm a very average player). Granted, I didn't have a backheel trap at the start of the play, but look at the way it happened, he didn't exactly control the ball perfectly, it just so happened to pop into an area that was convenient for the bicycle attempt.

That was pretty awesome execution, from the free kick, to the heel-kick for ball control, the split-decision to go for the overhead kick, and the placement in the corner of the goal without looking. Unbelievable for kids 9th grade or less.
