but if you're going to use it in any way then that's a terrible price. i sold a 440 or 445cdx nearly 2 years ago (pentium 133, 300 meg hd, 40 megs of ram (I think it's 64 max), 12.1" screen) on -ebay- for ~75$ and that laptop was built like a tank.

they're all built like tanks.. But a lappy with a 12" screen is kinda large, I've got a laptop with a 12" screen a pentium infact and it just wouldn't be as fun as a smaller laptop. I kinda wanted a toshiba libretto but they sell for too much and there is so much bezel and not enough screen (7 or 8in. screen IIRC)

I would have used my gf's but she was writing one as well. I'm sure whoever was passing by was like WTF! (this was 2 years ago).

So how DO you like it anyways? Did you buy it new? Good condition? Not saying you should sell it to me or anything, as much as I like accessories, one accessory I wouldn't want is the IBM docking station for such an old laptop, just can't believe they were so large... Now if I was buying a T42 in the future with docking station, absolutely, I love my T42 docking station, very small foot print and provides necessary ports.. (Obviously has a T42)

Its in basically new condition. Its got a 486 DX2 50, 12 megs ram and 500meg HD. Runs great. Got a PCMCIA NIC as well for blazing fast browsing on IE4. The dock is actually nice since I can just plug a SCSI cd-rom in it to install stuff and it has a couple of ISA slots for other cards.

I got it in 2000 from a friend. I think the CMOS battery is shot as is the regular battery.

Is XP the only operating system you've used? The idea for this laptop is not only to play classic games but to not be so distracted with all the crap I can do on it like play stupid flash games on the internet..

I started with MS-DOS, so no.

It's the stability and flexibilty of XP that I want.

Yeah, one inherent problem with buying a Pentium Based laptop is that most of them are sized about what a 15" notebook is today which I really find to be unacceptable.. If I get a laptop, I kinda want a throw around laptop but at the same time significantly smaller than anything I have now (thickness isn't as bad as it being deep+wide).

The only notebook I've had that deserved the title. It's an OLD Celeron 300, maxed out at 128MB RAM, but you can't beat the size. Add a wireless card and an aftermarket 40GB, 5400RPM drive, and it's a great road warrior. Plays Starcraft, too :)

Who said I was willing to pay $100 for a laptop? Either way, a 486 still has a catalog of software significantly larger than apple ever will (in the foreseeable future). Like I said, I'm just looking for a small, cheap laptop that if it breaks, I don't have to remove my testicles..

Stupid people make me laugh.

What kind of condition are they in? Brand, accessories they come with etc.. You might want to ebay them nik, you'd get more money than you think.. Care to list them all? If they're broken though, like completely not working, only way I can see them getting sold is if they're common since one might want to fix their own laptop etc..
