I've never done Uber or Lyft or whatever. Haven't been in a taxi since the 20th century, IIRC. However, I figure I should be prepared just in case.

I just looked up Uber in Windows Phone Store, and the app gets 3/5 stars and a boatload of unhappy users (mostly from 2014). People were saying that they got internal server errors when using the app and that they didn't get cost quotes before having to book.

I got zilch when searching on Lyft.

What's the scoop? :\ Thanks for candid/clear/insightful comments.

I have a 1520 and Uber app works great for me. The only odd thing is that I get some 'extra' notifications after the ride is done, but it works fine. On 8.1...

Does it give you quotes before you book a ride?

Hmm. The download on the 640 says in about (I haven't DL'ed it yet) these things:

New Windows users in the US get their first ride free (up to $15) with the code MSFTWIN10

You have to be on Windows 10 - Version 1511 (November update) or newer to download the latest Uber app

Windows 10 isn't available yet for my AT&T Lumia 640, unless I do Windows Insider.

Maybe I'll wait to DL until I have Win10 running on the Lumia 640. I have it on my tablet, but figure it's the kind of thing I want on my phone, which pretty much stays in my pocket.
