um, then it's not twelve. Should be just 7 + 8 = 12.

There's a difference between writing it out twelve and the numbers '12'

There doesn't have to be. My answer is technically correct, whether or not that was the answer the asker of the riddle expects.

Ah, okay, my bad. I misread it. ;)

Whenever I'd get an answer wrong in math classes, I'd tell the teacher that I was using another number system since they didn't specify one... Never worked. Asses. :p
