Hmm? I've searced and searched for an answer, but I've never come up with an answer to this. All the barber shops I know of are closed on Monday, and I've always wondered where the tradition came from? Let's see if you guys can answer this one :)

Because in your neck of woods obviously they've gotten together and
decided if we all close on monday because we're open on saturday
we won't lose any business since we're all closed ;)

You're not the only one who likes to take 2 days off each week ;)
Many small shops and restaurants close on monday.
My barber at home actually closes on Wed. Not sure why. I thought most places chose Monday b/c then they'd still get 2 continuous days off.

I've always heard that it was because barbers/hairstylists, like everybody else, want their 2 days a week off, but they stay open on Saturday for convenience with "working people"s' schedules, so they close Mondays instead.

That was quite interesting, but it didn't tell us why barbers are closed on Monday. :)

Hey, my barber closes on wednesday too. I wonder if we go to the same barber?

It goes back to the days when barbers used to do bloodlettings. Monday was named after luna (lunacy), and they were so superstitious they thought only nutcases would come in on Mondays so they closed. ;)

Heh, j/k. The staggered weekend theory sounds good.

If you go to Steve at The Gentlemen's Choice which is in the same building as the gun shop, then yes :)

Hmmm...I guess we don't go to the same barber :)

Mine is in a little strip mall and it just says "Barber Shop". I've never seen anywhere that actually lists a name for this place.
