No Lifer
high unemployment
bad economy

right?

why does it take 3-5 months to get a roof replaced?
why can't i get anyone to inspect/repair my septic tank in less than 2 months?

my roof and some neighbors roof were damaged in beginning of may, i finally got mine replaced the end of july, neighbor had his done beginning of october

now i need my septic tank checked out
first guy came out in September and said 'something is wrong' and leaves. we call 2-3 times a week for the past month and he finally, basically says he is too busy and if we can find someone else that would be ok

i call another guy today and he says 'well, i would like your business, but i am really busy, call this other guy to inspect it and if it needs repair i'll give you a bid'

why do i gotta call 3 different places to find someone to pay $4000 (or whatever it is going to cost) ?

People who were working in manufacturing lost the most jobs, they are still unemployed. They don't want these jobs.

It takes that long because people are going to college to major in political science, psychology, and a bunch of other useless majors & think of themselves as too good for a blue collar job. There's actually a bit of a shortage of skilled labor in the US in many fields.

my daughter :\
she started with poly sci, which my wife and i thought wasn't so bad, all the billions spent on political campaigns these days, then she switched to psychology before she finished her first semester 😵

ha!

My degree is basically a mash of political science, psychology and sociology.
"homeland security"

It may have been the worst professional mistake of my life. I like this stuff, and I love learning and applying my mind to those topics, but... not a lot of "hot jobs" in Ohio that are looking for people with degrees like this.

I'm thinking of trying to get my foot in the door in IT. I originally planned on that route, and have working knowledge, but decided I'd go crazy in that environment. Now I'm thinking it's one of the better professional routes for me... if I can get my foot in the door.

Heh, I had a neighbor who went to college for something or other that was going to result in a career is law enforcement for homeland security. Border patrol or something like that. He now lays bricks.
