RiData X series vs. OCZ Vertex, Vertex Turbo, Vertex LE?

So it's time to upgrade my laptop since the disk access light is on pretty much permanently (running three or four Android emulators and two Eclipse sessions will pretty much do that).

I'm swamped with data. I've read Anand's articles, I get TRIM, etc. But could I get some help/advice?

I'm looking at the following drives:

Is the Vertex LE really that much faster? Is it just a 120GB drive with more space reserved?

Is RiData a legit offering? Is it likely just a rebranded OCZ (of some form?)

How about Vertex vs Vertex Turbo -- is there any difference other than $20 and 20MB/s?

And then there's Kingston as the dark horse.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

The Vertex LE is truly a limited edition running, using the SandForce controller. It's significantly faster than Indilinx and Intel offerings, IIRC.

Vertex and Vertex Turbos are essentially the same drives, but the Turbos have the controller running at a slightly higher clock speed. They are a little bit faster, but probably not worth the extra price unless the difference is $5-10.

I bought a Vertex LE 100GB and couldn't tell a real-world usage difference between my OCZ Vertex 120GB, Agility 60GB, and X25-M's. Benchmarks are of course better, but I rarely run them for anything but troubleshooting and curiosity. I ended up returning the Vertex LE 100GB, and bought a second Vertex 120GB. Sure my 4K numbers "suck" (well compared to a SandForce/ X25-M/ C300) but the performance is more than adequate: http://www.servethehome.com/ocz-vertex-120gb-updated-raid-0-benchmarks-intel-rst/

Also, I RMA'd an older Vertex 120GB, and had a sub-10 day total turn between when the old drive failed an a new one was up and running. http://www.servethehome.com/ocz-vertex-120gb-rma-raid-0-time/ The OCZ people were really nice and had no hassles. I don't have experience with RiData, but you should check how responsive they are to RMA's before committing to buying a SSD from them.
