Excellent price on quality media. NewEgg seems to change the price on this daily. I think there is already another recent thread for this item when the price was $35 AR. I think a few people have reported being denied for a second rebate using the same address as an earlier purchase also claiming the $10 rebate. I'll take my chances in that regard. The last discs I received were RICOHJPNR01 and will burn reliably at 8X in a number of 8X or higher rated drives.

I love these discs. These are all I get now. I've burned over 600 of these discs at 8x.

I too use DVD-Rs almost exclusively and was disappointed that Newegg's special was only for +R media. I don't use DVDs as much as CDRs so I went with the 50 pack of Riteks for $22 + $1.99 shipping. That should last me for a few months.

50 pack of Ritek DVD-Rs for $23.99

dud, why would you buy a 50pk of 4x @ $22 when you could get a 100pk of 8x for $35 AR?
I posted a link to this deal in your thread.
IMO it's a much better deal.

Toxic,

I simply don't need that many DVDs. By the time I got to the 51st DVD the media would be obsolescent. I knew about the deal on the DVD-Rs but did not need that many.

What's the difference with -r or +r? I've been using +r's for ages but haven't noticed anything wierd. Am I missing something that I'm just not aware of?
My burner can burn either so I never really cared which one I got, just as long as they burned. I'm wondering if I'm missing outon something..

djdawn,

The original DVD format was DVD-R or "dash R".

DVD+R is a proprietary DVD format developed later.

Both formats play om most players/consoles BUT,

DVD-R is the original format and is pretty much universal. I burn movies and games and have NEVER had a compatibility problem.

The old saying is true: If it aint broke, don't fix it. I think I will stay with DVD-R.

The -R's are more compatible with older DVD players i.e. will play on more players. It's usually not a problem.

Has anybody used any of these Ridata 4x blanks in a Plextor 712A or a Lite-On 851S?

Ahhh.. But if your burner supports booksetting, then you can make +r's compatible in EVERY player :D

any more comments on the quality of the dvds?? The last dvd 50pk I picked up were Ridata's (they had a red wrapping package) and they were ok. I had a few dvd's from the pack that had some of the purple stuff from the bottom of the disc flake off which annoyed me. (I had a few bad discs in that...most of the bad ones were "flaking")

I'm think of just picking up those Taiyo Yuden's at newegg, but if this 100pk Ridata's are good then I dont think I could resist the price.
