I was not quite sure if it was that hot of a deal since I did not double check with pricewatch or alike. But if you only have one 5 1/2 drive slot, this would be great because you will be paying not much more than what you would pay for a CDR/W and get an extra DVD feature in it.

Please do not ask me "what is the $50 coupon?".

Bad deal if you ask me. If these were $10 more than a standard 6x4x24x then OK.... but all that crap just obsoletes that combining a DVD with a CDRW just isn't smart right now.

I get your point. I would not buy these combo for my main system which currently has a CD-ROM, a DVD-ROM, and a CDR/W.

However, I thought that it would be cool for my second FlexATX system which only got one 5 1/2 drive bay. It would be cool for those people with Emachine and others with limited brive bay space.

It's kind of scary to have all of them in one as CD-ROM's tend to go bad often. If something happens to it, you loose all three functions.

On the other hand, it would be nice to substitute 3 power draining drives with just one drive.

For people planning to build a small MATX, NLX, or FlexATX system, it's a good drive and price is pretty good (I think). If you have a full tower case w/ 400W PS running, you probably want to go with separate DVD & CDR/W drives.
