hi -

many problems with my ricoh dvd-cdrw combo drive. burner able to open up pgm (easy cd creator), but doesn't recognize blank media. instead, error message pops up requesting to 'insert another disc because disc is full'. thing is, i had originally bought same model drive and had it sent back for another problem (thought something wrong with the dvd function, but it turned out to be fine) and at that time burned cd's fine, until the manufacturer sent back a new drive.

also at same time, to try to repair the presupposed dvd problem, i set the bios to default settings. did that ruin settings for burner? also reformatted my computer recently and now trying to reinstall previous drivers don't work either. even tried unplugging/uninstalling and reinstalling the drive, but no hope. funny thing is, works fine in friend's computer. is it a prob occurring in motherboard then?

please give any suggestions. thanks very much.

i'm using imations, too! (700/80) ...and they were working on the mp9060a drive i originally bought. i just sent it back today since it's still under warranty, but i'm still extremely perplexed as to what went wrong...it is a discontinued item and there must be a reason why... :Q

sure, i'll let you know how things go when the drive gets back. feel free to email me - my profile is posted. ya, the dvd player works perfectly fine. maybe it's cuz i have a creative dxr3 decoder board installed. and both the drive and decoder board were not optimized for win2k os enyway, which is what i'm running on. i guess computers can just be real finicky. ;)

just bought a Ricoh cd-r/rw dvd i was told to use 10x write cd-rw s this might help you out.

havent had a problem with it except with trying to get past the copywrite protection on hitman codename 47. it read up to 3% and then it didnt do anything. it didnt stop responding so i let it go went to a concert came home and 24 hours later it was still at 3% and it still did not show that the drive stopped responding. does anybody know how to get past the copywrite protection
Thanks
