So Slick Rick has an interview this weekend and gives a wink and a nod to the birthers bacause "Donald Trump" doesn't believe Obama's birth certificate is real. When asked if POTUS is an American born citizen, instead of saying "yes" and then moving on Perry begins to suck the proverbial dicks of the crazies and racists in the GOP by equivicating. Later when asked if the certificate is real he says, "I don't have any idea".

Perry then attempts to end the subject by saying it doesn't matter and the issue is distracting but by then, Rick has already swallowed and the C&Rs are a happy bunch.(anger intended)

I don't know why Republicans are clueless as to why moderates and independants are turning away and why they've been unable to attract minorities.

The bigger issue than being wrong on the birth certificate is the lack of character his willingness to say anything to get elected shows.

So your point is that the GOP candidates, to win the primary, will suck up to the radicals and Tea Party fruitcakes who run the primary? Politicians spouting bullshit for votes?! ZMOG!

What I don't understand is why liberals make posts trying to understand these things. Obama is a massive failure and people would vote for an autistic skunk over another 4 years of the Moron-in-Chief.

How did Rick's lips feel? Hope he didn't bite!

The original Parade interview was interesting. More than a few gotcha questions from Lynn Sherr. It was like a game of cat and mouse in some parts.

Governor, do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the United States?
I have no reason to think otherwise.

That’s not a definitive, “Yes, I believe he”—
Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate.

But you’ve seen his.
I don’t know. Have I?

You don’t believe what’s been released?
I don’t know. I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night.

And?
That came up.

And he said?
He doesn’t think it’s real.

And you said?
I don’t have any idea. It doesn’t matter. He’s the President of the United States. He’s elected. It’s a distractive issue.

In 1988, you supported Al Gore’s presidential campaign. Why?
In that group, he was by far the most conservative Democrat. But between Ronald Reagan and seeing what the Democrat Party was becoming, I came to the conclusion in 1989 that I needed to become a Republican.

Have you seen the film An Inconvenient Truth?
No, ma’am.

Have you read the book?
No. I generally don’t watch or read a lot of fiction.

Many believe global warming caused the wildfires in your state. What do you think?
Historically in Texas, we’ve always had substantial periods of drought. World temperatures have also been changing for millennia. I truly believe the science is not settled on the issue of man-made global warming.

I find it interesting that you went to college to be a veterinarian.
And organic chemistry made a pilot out of me. [laughs] After 16 hours of organic chemistry, they pointed out to me that I probably didn’t want to be a veterinarian.

So would it be fair to say that you and science don’t get along so well?
No. After I graduated college, I had a year of the most technical aerodynamics and physics that you need to be an air force pilot. They weren’t cream-puff studies. I have a pretty good handle on science from that perspective.

I don't understand where was the gotcha?

When asked

He has said "Yes" that line of questioning would have been over

Perry says he doesn't know if Obama's birth certificate is real, and HomerJS takes the opportunity to bash him.

If Perry says he knows for certain Obama's birth certificate is real, HomerJS still takes the opportunity to bash him, as only the people who witnessed the birth have direct evidence.

Pretty much boils down to HomerJS wanting to insult someone for the sake of insulting someone. Mission accomplished. What will your next thread be?

He didn't even have to get into if it was real or not. All he had to do is say "yes" to the question. Issue would have been over.

Have to be blind not to see Rick is saying hey all you C&Rs, I'm with you and that "guy" in the White House isn't one of "us"

You can't possibly know what HomerJS would have said if Perry had said something different, which makes what you just said an absurdity in defense of what Perry really did say.

I'll give Perry Kudos for performing a rhetorical pirouette on the head of a pin, pandering to his base, and for finally offering that it doesn't matter, that it's a distraction and a non-issue wrt the current POTUS.

It's absolutely scary that the chief executive of a major state subscribes to so many dingbat theories. It's like your crazy uncle is in charge.

Its kind of like a black person who becomes President of the United States who attends a church saying America is the problem for black people for 20 years. Can't explain that kind of shit.

Duh-vert!

As if this thread isn't a massive duh-version. Come on, the man answered the questions and then even stated this is just a political diversion. Yet Homer and the likes have to post threads about nonsense. Perry is done, was done long before this, you bringing it up only shows you think otherwise and are somehow threatened by what this deadbeat says. What a joke.

I don't know what is worse; actually giving Donald Trump ANY kind of fucking audience and time. Or not being able to come up with a solid answer on something that is pretty undisputable.

Perry is a fucking joke.

Or better, Republicans saying federal government is the problem and then join it. Kinda like Rick Roll Perry saying Texas should secede and then he runs for President.

Guess every thread now is going to turn into a bait and switch troll thread. Seems to be the case lately.

OK, so past behavior excuses future/current actions. Again, another one to jot down for future reference.
First of all, you don't seem to know what a bait and switch is. Second, I was only pointing out how ridiculous it looks for you, a member for only 2-3 months, to make claims of how this forum is now compared to the past. I am not surprised you completely missed the point.

Posting a thread title regarding one issue then changing the discussion to a completely separate issue and at the same time flaming one side with this completely separate issue (which is usually just BS to begin with). Pretty sure this thread matches that description.

Also, you do realize that people aren't tied to one username don't you? I missed the memo where your length of membership affected the meaning of your posts or your opinion.
