Richland build

$40 A4-6300 3.7/3.9Ghz dual-core Richland FM2 CPU w/HSF
$50 8GB (2x4GB) Gskill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600 CAS9 1.5V
$27 MSI A55M FM2+ micro-ATX mobo
$40 Sandisk 120GB SSD PLUS SATA6G SSD
$32 Apex / SuperCase / Allied micro-ATX case w/300W PSU
$1 SATA cable

$0 Linux Mint 17.2 64-bit MATE edition

total: $190

Notes:
The RAM is cheaper now, under $40 for 8GB. If I substituted the $15 160GB WD drive from Hot Deals for the $40 SSD, that would drop the price $25. The MSI FM2+ mobo I picked up (new) on a deal from TD a while back. Nowadays, a cheap FM2+ board would run you $40. So that would raise the price $13.

You could also drop in an A8-7600 Kaveri APU for $90, that would raise the price $50, but it would give it some gaming capability.

Edit: Add $20 for a Logitech wireless MK270 keyboard and mouse set.

Edit: Decided to order some Samsung DVD burners for $10 ea. at Newegg after a coupon deal. So that makes this build $200, with a DVD-RW.

I'm kind of curious, but I don't really want to bother putting Win7 on there, if I don't have to. Will the A4-6300 game at all? At 720P maybe? (1080P might be too much for it, it has a lower-grade APU IGP.)

These APUs are slower than an E5200 or E3300 (2.5Ghz 45nm C2D)! Hmm, had I known that, I probably wouldn't have paid $40 for them, new.

Edit: Member cbn helpfully pointed out that the A4-6300 is 50% faster in Passmark than the E5200.
