Pryor was burned in an explosion caused by the ether needed to free the coke base from the hydrochloride crystals ("powder"). Ether is very unstable and highly volatile when heated. This is one of the major reasons that crack took off the way it did as the freebase form of choice even though it's much less potent than "classic" freebase (baking soda is substituted for the ether).

Pryor has Multiple Sclerosis; so does Montel Williams as well as smoking hot R&B singer (and Mrs. Grant Hill) Tamia.

Ali has Parkinson's Disease.

...Ether. Acetone is highly flammable but only a moderate explosion hazard. Ether can actually cause spontaneous explosions several feet away from its holding container in the presence of air. It was much more notorious for freebase accidents compared to acetone.
