Well if you are truly rich..Nforce3 and an Athlon64 chip to go with it.

Cheers to that!

Or another option would be to go with a 2500+ and then take the difference and invest in some water cooling???
Then crank up the volts like no-one's business and pump out a decent 2.4Ghz or so?

Yep! Im not one to waste cash, but you sound like you like AMD, and have the money to burn. Id say go all out and get a prometia with Athlon64 but from what ive heard they don't run all that hot, so It wouldnt be worth it. Anyway, thats what Id do. Have 1GB of registered memory, 9800Pro or the next card..I can see it now. Itd be buttsechs.

Me thinks to get this...

Best Athlon64 when comes out....
This mobo Gigabyte mobo
cause it says it supports DDR400...
Then I'll get that Vapochillo.....to see how far it goes....

When exactly is the A64 coming out?
Also.. whens the next ATI card gonna be released as well? Im intrested in selling my 9700 and grabbing one of the new sexy beasts 😉

I am not against a64 or athlon or anything as I own a athlon 2600+ system, but how come anyone doesn't mention getting a 2.4 c and water/ nitrogen cooling and get it to run at 4000+MHZ ( this is already done by the way), because a64 has not been proven yet...

Liquid nitrogen is extreme and only tepmorary. When those nutballs use LN2 to OC, they just take screenshots at the highest possible speed they can get before it crashes. The voltages they use would likely fry the chip after 6-12 months of normal use. If you want an extreme overclock that will last look at either a Prometeia or Vapochill.

The A64 doesn't have a FSB... neither does an Opteron.

So what are we supposed to call the 'speed of the memory interface, used in conjuntion with the multiplier to gain the final CPU Mhz value' then?

Even if it is 'technically' incorrect, FSB will do for me.

And AFAIK, CPUz shows this 'value' as 'FSB'.

i believe its "hypertransport" speed rather than "fsb" speed. but who cares. im even thinking front side bus is incorrect, it should be "cpu bus", since the back side bus does not exist no more, the L2 cache is now on the cpu chip rather than on the motherboard.

Another vote for dual Opterons. They're out right now and MB options continue to increase. If you're commited to AMD, this is the only way to go.
