So I bought a Zojirushi rice cooker, the one that has a "Micom Fuzzy" chip in it. It's pretty damn nice, the only problem being the last 3 kinds of rice I used came out nasty. The first 2 batches of rice I made with it turned out great, but it was from a plastic container in my pantry - I junked the bag it came in weeks ago, so I don't know what kind it was.

My question is, anyone here find a particular brand/grade of rice that works good with new rice cookers? If so, what kind of portions were you making, any tips for me? The directions that came with it really sucked, and now I can't even find them. *sigh*

i bought a Zojirushi less than a month ago from amazon($129.99). I used it quite a bit and everyime the rice comes out perfectly. I currently use Basmati rice. The directions are a little confusing but you use 1 cup of water for every cup of rice

usually, it is 1 to 1 ratio for rice & water, but i believe that some rice requires less water than others and some more than others. for you, reduce the amt of water used for the last 3 kinds of rice you tried to cook.

the most important thing is to clean the rice with cold water. I clean it at least 4 times that way it wont burn the rice on the bottom

Nothing beats Basmati! That's why it's usually so darn expensive compared to other rice.

you can to do it the old fashion way. put in the rice, then with a clean hand, put your hand in, palm flat down, and make sure you have the water reach upto your wrist. Perfect rice anytime. :D

I just buy those cheap 50lbs bags. I think they are shipped from cali
