Ok, my brother is 48 years old and has a son, who is 16. From what I understand his son downloaded a game and now the RIAA has sent an email to delete the content and send them their personal information. They are unsure what to do, and have asked me for advice.

I will post more information as I get it from them.

RIAA wont go after game downloads. Its prob a phishing email. Tell them to do nothing until contacted by their own ISP via postal mail or phone.

That doesn't sound legit.
NEVER give out personal info online even if it's the IRS.
NEVER.

it seems crazy to divulge any information whatsoever to the RIAA, or anyone else contacting you via email

Why would the RIAA give a rats ass about a game? They only care if you download their music.

Don't see anything about games there.

Tell your brother that the RIAA cares for all of mankind. Surely, he will want to volunteer any and all information that will suffice to their pleasure. They are nice, wholesome people. Money isn't a big concern to them. Say hello and welcome your overlords, for they love you.

I was thinking the same thing, and if it were about being sued or something like that you'd think they would send a letter

Maybe the RIAA would lie to sell him penis enlargment pills and some cheap meds and provide him with a hot stock tip too.

You know, I just thought of something. Why would the RIAA care about a game? Didn't think of that, did you guys!
