Browsing around a few forums today, I've noticed a common thread: people complaining about downloads of Celine Dion's new album, "One Heart," which was officially released today. Doing some digging, it seems that the RIAA has finally upped the ante, and is now starting to completely flood the P2P networks with bad files(so called interdiction acts) to prevent piracy. I've seen a few people throw around not so unreasonable nimbers, as to the point where 95% of the "songs" from this CD on the US Kazaa network are really interdictions. However, due to Kazaa's grouping method(for multi-source downloads), the RIAA's latest plan is in part failing: interdiction files are showing up as different sizes, but still being grouped together(whereas a "real" file should have the same size for every host).
At this point, I think it's safe to assume that the RIAA is playing for the jackpot. It's a new war ahead, and the RIAA intends to win it all... too bad they don't stand a chance.😉
