What it comes down to is... If it can play back media.. the media can be copied. They can spend millions and never get anywhere, or get smart and lower their f#cking prices and there will be a larger population buying the music. If music is cheaper people will be more attuned to go out and buying it due to the fact they don't have the guilt in the back of their heads that they are stealing. But until they lower the prices down to $7 - $10 a cd. IMO they are trying to steal from us.

i don't think cost is SUCH a big issue. i mean lets say you're a 30 some year old guy making 100 grand a year, i don't think that $15 a CD would be an issue for you.

i can see convenience being an issue, where you have to walk into a store and look for your music and then buy it. itunes music store wouldn't work either in this case cause you may want a physical "disc" that you didn't burn yourself.

even at $7-$10 a cd, the artists themselves get crap out of that, its all the copyright owners and the studios that hog all the money.

personally i just download music cause its a) easy b) free c) available everywhere!! (relates to a!)

Shortly after the demise of Napster, and the rise of Kazaa/Morpheus, I recall one of the heads of RIAA said something along the lines of "these song swappers are no better than the terrorists who are responsible for 9/11." I kid you not, they apparently "retracted the statement" later when they realized WTF they said. I don't think it was Hilary Rosen, but the other guy, the CFO.

"they are looking into" can mean anything. sensational tabloid sh*t.

Oh really?

Why don't you say that to the thousands that have been sued by these Thugs?

Or how bout all the new Laws such as automatic 3 year Jail time if you are caught with an MP3 file on your PC in Italy?

There's a lot more going on than you think that I can no longer post since it "inflames" too many folks. That's OK because those very same folks that get "inflamed" are the first to cower into submission under the power of the RIAA/MPAA and the Govt. Way to go
